What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your initial consultation typically takes 30–45 minutes. Dr. Cho will review your medical history, go through your imaging with you, perform a neurological exam, and explain your condition and all available options in plain language.

We want your first visit to be as smooth and comfortable as possible. Here’s what to know before your appointment.

What to Bring
  • Photo ID and insurance card(s)
  • A list of current medications, supplements, and herbal products — including names, dosages, and frequency
  • Any relevant imaging (MRI, CT, X-rays) — on disc or uploaded in advance
  • Referral paperwork if required by your insurance
  • Previous surgical records or operative reports if applicable & available
  • A list of questions or concerns you'd like to discuss with Dr. Cho

Chosen Spine and Neuro accepts most major insurance plans. Our billing team will verify your coverage before your appointment and explain any out-of-pocket costs upfront.

PREPARING FOR SURGERY
Preparing for Your Operation
If you decide to move forward with surgery, our team will provide detailed pre-operative instructions specific to your procedure. General preparation guidelines include:
  • Pre-operative labs and medical clearance if necessary — coordinated with your primary care doctor
  • Medication adjustments, particularly blood thinners — Dr. Cho's team will advise
  • Fasting instructions — typically nothing to eat or drink after midnight before surgery
  • Arranging a ride home and help at home for the first few days after surgery
  • Preparing your recovery space — comfortable seating, frequently used items within reach, ice packs ready
